A Dark Matter | Doug Johnstone
Pickpick

I enjoyed this book. It is fairly well structured and thought out. The characters are fairly well rounded and the story a little bit different. I've given this 4 rather than 5 stars because the author probably should have done a bit more research in certain areas, in particular DNA testing. That said it's a good story, generally well told and if you like your murders entwined with humour then this has got to be for you. Thank you.

This book was just 'ok' for me. It must be extremely hard to write in 'the voice' of another writer, however, Sophie Hannah has all but perfected it. She has perfected the character and the dialogue so it is quite believable. That said, the 2nd half of the book did go on a bit, there was a lot of repetition. I also found some of the narration a tad confusing. This book is not for me but I'm sure Poirot fans will enjoy it. Thank you.

Pickpick

I read this book for book club and found it to be quite enjoyable. I think the first person narrative could have had fewer 'I saids' when it was perfectly obvious who was speaking. Other than that it was a pretty good story, well told. I really liked the parallel story running though it and the detail - even down to the cut on the face- but I think the end let it down bit. Worth a read. Thank you.
